Connecting The Dots ... Anticipating Future Needs

Why your  English Writing  grades by college
SHOULD BE IMPRESSIVE...NOT average or below.

Formal education in English begins in America
mostly in
KINDERGARDEN

English speaking & writing class for
8 years in grammar/middle school.

Most students in America have 4 more years
of ENGLISH speaking & writing
in high school.
* Improvement throughout is expected by all.* Did YOU prioritize this???

Even after all that, most American colleges and universities REQUIRE
more English speaking & writing classes during the freshmen year.
By this point, logic should tell you...with all that emphasis, our society THINKS
a well educated person MUST have very good to excellent
English writing skills
to succeed !

Also by this point in your young adult lives, your educational experiences,
your goals and research on how to achieve your goals, plus crucial
CRITICAL THINKING should be telling YOU college MUST prepare you for
career & professional needs, skills and abilities.
Time for mastering the English writing basics is OVER!

The final clue...the SJSU course catalog requires
completion and passage of ENGLISH 1a and 1b
before Journalism 61.

This is telling everyone...a strong basic English writing skills foundation is a
most important
1st asset and proof of readiness for ANY future career!

But really... think about it...
After 12 -13 years of English skills education
Average grades or barely passing grades in ENGLISH 1a & 1b = NOT IMPRESSIVE.
Be honest and ask yourself...High paying jobs in very competitive media careers...
do you really THINK they want
average or self limiting performers???

Blame whomever you want...the school system, your teachers, your
parents,...the bottom line remains...
IT'S ON YOU!

If YOUR basic professional skills set,
strong English writing, verbal communication
and spelling ability
are WEAK,
 FIX THE PROBLEMS RIGHT NOW.
Otherwise LOOK in the mirror after graduation
when asking..." Why can't I get a media job?

Successful JOURNALISM 61 graduates DEMONSTRATED in class
GOOD basic English writing skills...GOOD basic English verbal skills
GOOD...spelling skills & GOOD current events knowledge with

PASSION... ALL THE TIME
Otherwise, you may be fooling yourself about what is truly needed
to have the future
YOU want. Keep saying you'll do better later when I am paid,
or be happy getting a
"C" grade to pass a course now...Many professionals see
and hear that as
a LOSERS mentality.
