ASSIGNMENT THIS WEEK:
Daily check out online TV news websites in
Indianapolis and New Orleans ( and Baltimore. ) Compare news
coverage
for each city involved in the upcoming Super Bowl.
To
successfully complete this course, students
must be able to:
1.
Demonstrate knowledge of and the ability to apply
the principles and laws of freedom of speech and press,
including the right to dissent, to monitor and criticize power,
and to assemble and petition for redress of grievances.
2. Demonstrate knowledge of professional ethical
principles and the ability to work ethically in pursuit
of truth, accuracy, fairness and diversity.
3.
Demonstrate the ability to think critically, creatively and
independently. Conduct research and evaluate information
by methods appropriate to the communications professions
in which they work.
4.
Demonstrate that they have the ability to write and/or
produce quality content for broadcast news or
convergent media under time pressure
or deadline restrictions.
5.
Demonstrate the ability to develop and
effectively use appropriate interview quotes and
comments, paraphrase sources accurately and fairly,
and attribute clearly and accurately all information used.
How all MUST communicate in class discussions:
Advanced
broadcast journalism students
MUST
be able to
articulate about major issues & current events.

shape TV news and in 1968
created the feature-magazine program 60 Minutes,
died at his Bridgehampton, N.Y., home,
CBS announced on its
video.
He was 86 and reportedly had
been battling pancreatic cancer.
