Engage the White House

President Obama is unopposed for
the Democratic Party nomination for president.
He should easily accumulate
2,778 party delegates needed long before the
caucus and primary season is over this spring.

The eventual Republican nominee
will need 1,144 delegates to secure the GOP
nomination for president in 2012.

Party Conventions, 2012:

After all the state primaries and caucuses are completed,
late this summer the major political parties
hold their national conventions. Delegates
chosen during the spring contests gather
to formally nominate their candidates.

It's tradition the party currently in the White House
holds its convention last. The candidate
who secures the party's nomination demonstrates
leadership ability by organizing events
for the four day party convention.

How political conventions work

Republican National Convention
Tampa Bay, Florida
Week of August 27th
