AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH |

Prof. Bob's Perspective...
|
You can't help but learn a
lot from this film. The program is extremely well researched,
and presented in an unconventional college lecture format. (" Professor Gore " has a great command of the subject matter, and a good sense of humor and theatrics. Who knew?)
The content (history, facts
and current info) are simply overwhelming, but the creative
use of new technology
(smart classroom style) really brings home the points in very powerful ways. "Inconvenient Truth" is going to raise the bar in classroom teaching across America.
Gore's intellectual approach,
combined with his personal stories and ease with the topic,
definitely engages the
mind and elevates the discussion to that level where human beings should be on the food chain. Caretakers of a planet do have certain responsibilities.
It's a superb
documentary...and should have a deep impact on people. Unlike
Michael Moore's films, however,
the political jabs are more subtle, and better written. You finally get a sense of the man, Al Gore, and what's really important to him. If you stay through and watch the end credits, you also learn what everyone can do to make a difference. (This message is part of that homework assignment.)
Whether you are into politics
or not...environmental issues or not...I strongly recommend you
see this film.
Sometimes we need to see for ourselves what might happen if we keep putting things off to later.
People left the theatre
tonight stunned by what is happening all around the globe.
Looking at the bigger picture
sometimes brings focus, especially for young people and their futures. I hope they really embrace the thinking and challenges this film inspires, then use their collective voices and speak up! On this issue, they have every right to feel "entitled". What they inherit may be far from beautiful or safe to enjoy.
This is a great wake up call
for everyone. Gore is partly using this film to introduce
himself to new activists looking
for a cause worth believing in and fighting for. He's finally found a way to use his rather stiff style in a most convincing manner.
Finally...I'd say he IS
definitely running for president again...and this film will
prove to be such a moving and
memorable asset not even the U.S. Supreme Court can undo it. Just my thoughts... Bob Rucker |
