MCOM 72, MEDIA & SOCIETY is a fun and interactive lecture-discussion course primarily designed for  freshmen, sophomores and transfer students. This course meets an SJSU lower division General Education requirement for all students on campus.  At the end of this class you will have a general overview exposure to how  advertising, journalism and public relations works, plus how the internet,  the music and movie industries play a major role in shaping attitudes, opinions and decisions in American society in the 21st Century!

MCOM 105, DIVERSE CULTURES & LIFESTYLE IN MEDIA is designed for juniors, seniors and graduate students. It covers some very sensitive topics and how the media deals with them. Racism, homophobia, sexism, religious bias & stereotyping, and disability misunderstanding in media messages and decision-making are carefully studied. Open, candid, mature, challenging but respectful discussions are expected in this lecture-discussion class. All students on campus are welcome to take this course as an elective.

Journalism 61b, Radio, TV & Online News Writing exposes students to a new, unique and many times challenging broadcast writing style. This lab  class is open to any undergraduate who has completed both English 1a and English 1b. Graduate students may take J61b to learn broadcast and internet news writing style, but they do not earn masters degree credit for this lower division course.
